My Best Bloggy Friend: Nicholl Vincent

From Miami to Scotland.

One of the things I love about blogging is getting to meet lots of other bloggers from all around the world. You would think the world of blogging would be highly competitive but it is actually the complete opposite. Everyone wants to help each other and grow the community. We all want to see each other succeed and enjoy reading each other's posts.

When I first started out, I reached out to a blogger who I admired. I asked for some simple advice and what i got back was not only an email that was thought out and genuine but also a friend for life.

Nicholl Vincent, writer of The Chiffon Diary, has become not only a blogger whose success I inspire to match and whose wardrobe I would love to have but she has also become my greatest pen pal and a true friend.

Our electronic pen pal notes have gone from a monthly occurrence to almost a daily chat that I look forward to each and every day. The only downside of which is that her daily updates from Miami make me extremely jealous of the warm sunshine and breezy palm trees as I sit with rain battering off my window here in Scotland. The grass is always greener on the other side!

I wanted Nicholl to have some involvement in this post, so I asked her if she would be willing to answer some general questions and she kindly agreed :) :

What is your day to day outfit?
I wear my black skinnies with any shirt, a leather jacket and booties the most.
How would you describe your style?
I think my style is relaxed, but always with a touch of glam.
What AW13 fashion trend can you not get enough of?
I love winter pastels!
How long have you been blogging for and what inspired you to start?
I have been blogging for a year and a half. I moved across the country, so I thought it would be a good way to stay connected with my family and friends from home, and then I realized what a great community blogging is, so I stayed!
What advice would you give aspiring bloggers?
Comparison is the thief of joy. If you compare yourself, your clothes, your relationships, jobs, significant others, stories, or following, you are taking the joy of what you have away from yourself.
What is in your handbag right now?
My handbag is actually clutter free at all times. I only carry my wallet, phone, teasing comb, and a lipstick.
What is your daily beauty regime?
Sunscreen, light make-up, but always lipstick! I wake up, read for a little bit, usually wash my hair the night before, so I either curl it, or put it up, and then do my make-up and get dressed.
Describe your day-to-day activities?
Wake up, have breakfast,  get ready, go to work or work from home, go back home, go on a run at the beach, eat dinner, watch shows with my husband, go to bed.
What is your favourite store?
Who is your favourite designer?
Name 3 things from your bucket-list?
Go on a world tour for three months, run a half marathon, go to Paris fashion week.
How do you enjoy spending your weekends?
I like to hang out with friends, clean my house, shop, spend time outdoors.
What is on your list for Santa this year?
A new handbag! Haven’t decided which one yet ;)

Our pen pal notes will soon be developing into a meet up and a Scottish adventure. I'm super excited for 2014 because Nicholl is coming to visit me in Scotland and she tells me she is really looking forward to some cold weather (strange, I know).  I have already started planning our itinerary so that I can make it the best trip possible for Nicholl :)

Here is what I have planned so far:

Loch Ness Monster hunting in Loch Ness

Visit to Edinburgh Castle

Trip through Glenfinnan via the Harry Potter bridge

2 days in London

Stay tuned in 2014 for our Scottish adventure posts :)

Please spare a minute to check Nicholl out at her blog, The Chiffon Diary.

  2. Hi! Just came across your blog, oh i know exactly what you mean, I have been lucky enough to make some friends that I really do think of as some of my closest friends even though my husband laughs and says they aren't 'real' haha! I have met two, one lovely lady in NYC when I went on a trip, and one when she came to London, both times I was so nervous in case it was weird meeting in person, but it was just the best thing ever. So excited for you to be planning your trip :)
